License and Product Key:
Lumion now uses an online Licensing system.

This is very flexible and allows users to use Lumion in the knowledge that their investment in the software is being looked after by Act3D-BV doing what it can to prevent illegal/cracked software.

When you purchase Lumion, you will receive a Product Key.  Your online account with Lumion and the key are used to connect your version of Lumion to the licensing manager when you run it.

You are able to activate and de-activate the license in order to swap PC's, such as using the office PC and then, an at home laptop.

The license is for a single user.

Further details and specific facts can be found at the Lumion web site here, as well as the forum.
Lumion Licensing Structure:
The Lumion license structure is a so-called per developer/seat license. This means that the amount of licenses required is equal to the number of developers working simultaneously with Lumion.  That is:  provided the number of concurrent users does not exceed the number of Lumion licenses purchased.
Platform:
LUMION runs on Windows 32 and 64 platforms with DirectX 9 installed. A DirectX compatible graphics card with 3D hardware acceleration is required. Minimum hardware specifications will be announced later.

Minimum requirements:
- Requires Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7
- Requires NVidia GeForce 8800 or similar ATI/AMD and 512Mb graphics memory at least.
- NVidia 260GTX / ATI 5850 or faster recommended

Recommended system requirements:
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- System memory: At least 4GB
- Graphics card: NVidia 460GTX / ATI 5850 or faster

NOTE: the more VRAM for the graphics card the better, including the more recent CPU with 8 or more GB.  The Lumion Forum provides lots of information from users to assist you in determining suitable hardware.
Temporary License:
No longer applies. See licenses information above or visit Lumion web site or forum for further details.
Updates and Upgrades:
Users can download updates and minor upgrades freely from their Lumion website account.

All major versions of Lumion will get a major version name. For instance: Lumion Version 1.  The current (December 2011) version is Lumion Version 2.0, and, with  the release (February 2012) of a first main update for the year, the new current naming is Lumion Version 2.1.  The use of Service Packs as names has been dropped in favour of versioning names.

All minor version upgrades are free for customers. For example, a customer who has purchased Lumion can install service packs for that version without any fee. Minor upgrades, such as service packs, are easily downloaded from the list of available versions in your online
Lumion account.

Major upgrades resulting in a new version (e.g. From Version 1 to Version 2) however, require an upgrade fee. This (tends) to be approximately 1/3 of the version cost depending on major new features. Price information for a major version upgrade is available in the latest recommended Lumion price list.
Lumion Editions:
Lumion has two different editions, commercial and educational editions.

The Commercial edition is aimed for everyone and can be used to create any kind of commercial projects.

The Educational edition is only intended for schools/universities or other educational organizations. It is prohibited to create any commercial projects by using the educational edition.

The Educational edition is available as site licenses, starting from 10 licenses. This site license consists of one year subscription which extends automatically each year. It works with the online licensing system that for the number of licenses (seats) purchased. It also gives end users the right to get free major upgrades during the subscription period. If end users decide not to extend the subscription, they are required to cancel their account with Act-3D.

Act-3D does not offer a single educational edition.

Lumion uses an online account system to validate and activate your license.  This activation is done in Lumion, and allows you to activate/de-activate the license so you can use that same license on another PC, for example a laptop at home.

There are a few aspects about the license, and information is available on the Lumion web site here.

Also, some more specific questions have been raised and you can search the forum.  We will add some specific aspects of interest here to assist in your understanding of the usage of licenses for Lumion.

1.  If you have activated Lumion and confirmed that it works on the PC that you are bringing over to your client, it will remain activated until you de-activate it again. In other words, the license will still work without an internet connection. (forum topic: activation.
